Real ID supports firearms and weapons merchants through a dedicated compliance extension. State-level permits, carry licenses, and dealer certificates can be verified as additional documents alongside a standard government-issued ID — configured per merchant in the Real ID rules engine.

Why verify United States IDs at checkout?

Merchants selling age-restricted products such as alcohol, cannabis, vaping supplies or firearms often need proof that a buyer meets the minimum age. Checking a government-issued ID at checkout confirms age before an order ships.

ID verification also deters fraud. Confirming the buyer matches the name on the order helps stop stolen-card purchases and reduces costly chargebacks.

For B2B and wholesale stores, Real ID can collect and review trade licenses so only qualified businesses access wholesale pricing.
